"Last evening, the sun died in the opalescent waters, and both moons in the crystal sky, ablaze with the rainbow of colors, sung farewell to it. The wind brought clouds from the faraway shallows that dragged a myriad silver tentacles behind them; the unicorns grazed among the cyclopean colonnades on the cliffs, night lights and their shepherds have left the hills.
We sat on a tree, saying goodbye to the day that passed. The gone generations cut their vague messages, darkened and weathered, into the bark. Sometimes one could read an initial, or a date, long before we were born; the tree saw it all. There were no new carvings. The shepherds of the evening lights can't write. They sow grass in the ruins, turning them into moss-covered hills.
The alien on the branch above passed the device. - "Shoot me when I breathe out", she said.
C-species wandered aimlessly around the liner near the ruins, their appendages trembled from the time spend in the hostile environment. Some of them brought thick cocoons full of loot to the cargo hatches and now waited for the dark. I watched so they don't come closer to the tree while the alien is still in the canopy. Shepherds of the lights gathered between the hills in a circle and played a game, kicking a jar from the head of one of them. The one who hit the jar then sat in the center of the circle. The flowers opened. The Wanderers' Star was already high over the trees, it shone over us every night, golden, like an ancient cat's eye.
"Good". - said the alien, inviting me to climb up the tree. After that, we sat on the edge of the water; the ruins with the star above cast pale shadows, the lights in the distance wandered in a pulsating helix pattern. Birds came out of the water and ate grass around us. The dying time did not disturb the harmony of the world."
